WALK FOR PEACE
September 21, 2019
The Rotary Club of Mercer Island is committed to contributing to Rotary International’s mission of non-violent conflict resolution, education about peaceful solutions and devotion to cross-cultural harmony.
On Saturday, September 21st from 10:00am – 12:00pm, Mercer Island will be holding the first annual “Walk for Peace."
EVERYONE IS WELCOME
We will hold the opening ceremonies at the Rotary Park on Mercer Island and then participants will be given the choice of 3 different walking paths. At each of the poles on the walkable path, volunteers will be sharing “Peace Quotes” with every participant.
It’s going to be a poignant and moving experience. We invite you to bring your family, friends and neighbors with you!
Mercer Island Walk for Peace is made possible due to the efforts of several organizations working together including: Mercer Island Rotary and it’s Foundation, the City of Mercer Island, the Mercer Island School District, and the King County Library System. The Peace Poles were donated by the Mercer Island Rotary Foundation’s Memorial Fund.
If you would like to donate to the Mercer Island Rotary Foundation, it is completely optional. Our grants support projects that are both local, regional and International in scope. They include, but are not limited to: Feeding the Homeless, Tiny Houses, Children’s programs, Peace Initiatives, Scholarships, Fresh Water Dams, Eradicating Polio, Hygiene Kits, and Disaster relief.
