Rotary Club of Niantic Community Service Awards

Recognition of Community Members

Annually the Club seeks to recognize one member of the community-at-large whose volunteer service to the community, whether through civic or charitable endeavors, has been outstanding and who, by his/her demonstrated commitment and example, may inspire others to engage in similar service in the community.

Individuals are recognized through the presentation of the Paul Harris Award, named for the founder of Rotary International, the world’s first service club. The Paul Harris Fellows program supports the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation which include an array of projects that save and invigorate the lives of people around the world. The Paul Harris Award recognizes a person whose service demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives and mission of The Rotary Foundation.

A contribution of $1,000 is made to the Rotary Foundation in the name of each recipient of the Paul Harris Award presented by the Rotary Club of Niantic.

Recognition of Organizations

Organizations that render exceptional community service are recognized with the presentation of the Niantic Rotary Outstanding Community Service Award. The Club seeks to select one such organization annually for such recognition.

Non-profit, Charitable Organizations -- Non-profit, charitable organizations which render outstanding service to the community through any variety of programs including, but not limited to, those directed at youth, education, health-related services, environmental concerns and community betterment, are eligible to receive the Niantic Rotary Outstanding Community Service Award.
For-profit Organizations -- For-profit corporate organizations are eligible to receive the Niantic Rotary Outstanding Community Service Award when they have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the community through their support of causes aimed at the improvement of the lives of individuals and/or the betterment of the community-at-large.

Contribution in Honor of Organizations

With the selection of a non-profit organization to receive the Niantic Rotary Community Service Award, a contribution of $1,000 will be made to that organization to advance its work.
With the selection of a for-profit organization to receive the Niantic Rotary Community Service Award, a contribution of $1,000 will be made it its name to a charity of the organization’s choice.
