CrabFest
The Rotary Club of Ashland Lithia Springs has held 25 annual CrabFests to support the Club’s dedication to support its motto: Kids First. Funds raised from this fun event are used in a number of ways to help kids in the Rogue Valley grow in their chosen fields. The biggest area concerns the scholarships given to CTE (Career & Technical Education) students; those who are looking to become electricians, welders, nurses, auto mechanics and such. Each year after the CrabFest the Club has been able to give out over $35,000 in these scholarships.
This annual event is attended by about 225 fun loving people. It seems that when people eat with their fingers (which, of course, is how one eats crab) all barriers go down….and the noise level goes up. Laughter is contagious.
After buying tickets these 225 people dig in their pockets and make donations to scholarships along with purchasing auction items and participating in raffles.
Over the 25 years, our Rotary club has raised close to $1,000,000 to support our scholarship and youth & community grant efforts.
This club has been able to do a gigantic job of making these CrabFests happen with only a small number of members. Great job!
Stay tuned for information on the 2025 event!
