T.A. Ward Memorial Trade Scholarship
Overview of scholarship/description
This scholarship is in memory of T.A. Ward, a former Rotarian who was an outstanding citizen in our community for many years. He helped start the Rotary of Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Breakfast Club and served as its first President. His company was also very influential in the construction industry in Western Pennsylvania providing jobs and opportunity for many in the area. The scholarship is valued at $1,000.
Requirements for submission (essay, GPA, etc)
There are no GPA requirements for this award. The applicant must be planning on continuing their education in the construction industry through a trade school or similar institution. Please submit a typed essay, no longer than 2 pages, outlining your career choice, how you arrived at that decision and what influenced you toward a career in the Trades. Please include your name, phone number, and email.
Who can apply?
Any student from Upper St. Clair or Bethel Park high school who is planning on entering the trades upon graduation.
How many will be awarded? And to which schools?
One scholarship per school will be awarded to a student, for a total of two (2).
What is the review process? By Whom?
Applications will be reviewed by the Rotary of Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Breakfast Club Scholarship Committee.
What is the deadline for Submission?
Applications will begin being accepted starting in April & must be received no later than May 3rd.
Who do I submit the application to?
Please submit your application directly to your school guidance counselor who will forward them to the Rotary of Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Breakfast Club Trade Scholarship committee for review.
How & When will I be notification if selected?
The winner will be contacted by Mid-May via phone call/email.
Terms of acceptance, if any: used by?
The winner will need to attend a Rotary meeting to accept the award. We meet at 7am each Tuesday morning at the Porch Restaurant at Sienna. A date will be picked to accommodate your schedule. The scholarship must be used for continuing education as defined by trade school.
