Daybreakers Get Serious On Publicity

At yesterday's board meeting, the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Edmonds Daybreakers engaged in a robust and productive discussion about improving the communication of mission and works of service with members and the general public with the goal of inspiring greater connection and support for our club, our project and Rotary. Our past publicity efforts and their outcomes were reviewed, and all agreed we need to improve if we want to achieve our goals and grow our capacity to serve.

After reviewing options and sharing concerns, the Board adopted a plan which will require all future projects, events and initiatives which receive Foundation or Club funding to complete a short, six question publicity form. The form asks for 'press ready' answers including a headline, summary of project, 2 or more photos or videos (or links to stock photos), and preferred audience. The answers will enable publicity team to efficiently and effectively work to build our club profile and mission.

The Board recognized our members are busier than ever, and asking for 10-15 minutes to summarize projects and events may be seen as a burden to some... though they hope members and committee chairs view this time and effort as an important investment in the future of our club, our mission and Rotary itself. By sharing our stories and our spirit of service we inspire our neighbors and community, as wells as our fellow members, to take action by giving their time, effort and financial support which with each act large & small improves our community and our world.
